Like a study of sound in chiaroscuro light, suspended between minimalist stasis and sacred repetition, Italian percussionist Nicolas Remondino explores the drum as a resonant material in its own right. Here, timbre intersects and merges surface and gesture through the possibilities of the beater as a medium, tracing a trajectory in search of songs made of amplified resonances—from skin to voice, and even to words.
Interested in everything related to sound, nature, and poetry, Remondino rejects fixed forms and categories. This approach informs both his solo projects released under the name LAMIEE, his collaborations with Dròlo Ensemble (which he founded), Tabula Rasa Ensemble, and Silentium Ensemble, supported by Accademia Chigiana and Siena Jazz, where he studied contemporary music under the direction of Stefano Battaglia.
He has performed and recorded with musicians and producers such as Massimo Silverio, Vieri Cervelli Montel, Any Other, Iosonouncane, and Manuel Volpe, and with sound artists and composers including Pierre Bastien, Limpe Fuchs, Giuseppe Ielasi, Michel Doneda, and Marco Baldini. Remondino currently hosts Lunario Corale, a regular program on Radio Raheem, and collaborates with Natalia Rogantini on the artistic direction of the Ala Bianca Festival, held in the Valchiavenna Alps.
